Seminoe to Alcova Back Country Byway

The Seminoe to Alcova Back Country Byway is renowned for spectacular wildlife viewing. Antelope and mule deer can be seen grazing throughout and bighorn sheep inhabit the Morgan Creek drainage area.

Waterfowl and birds of prey, including a variety of hawks and bald and golden eagles, soar above.

The Seminoe, Bennett and Pedro mountains are magnificent. There is fishing at the Seminoe Reservoir, and crossing the North Platte River at the Miracle Mile, the area is acclaimed for its trout streams.

The 64-mile road varies from two lanes to one. Because of its steepness, motorhomes and RVs are not recommended, but the byway can be safely driven by cars from May to September. Vehicles must stay on roads.

It takes about 2.5 hours to drive this byway.
