Hawk Springs State Recreation Area

The sandstone bluffs, rolling hills and farmlands around the small town of Hawk Springs resemble those of Nebraska, just a few miles away.

Located three miles east of Hwy. 85, Hawk Springs State Recreation Area, only 40 acres, is a popular destination for boaters, anglers, and waterskiers.

It has a special allure for fishermen, who find walleyes, channel catfish, perch, bluegills, black crappie and bass.

There are 15 campsites at Hawk Springs, but boaters may also camp along the shore within park boundaries.

Day users come to the park to picnic and watch birds. There are blue heron and cormorant rookeries, and many other waterfowl species frequent the lake.
